Holiday Prep

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all are ready for the holidays, it is closing in on us! If it is not already a hectic time, being in the beauty industry just makes it that much harder. No worries, I am here to give you some last minute tips.

First - be organized.

  • Create your social media plan, you can schedule your facebook posts in advance. By planning it out in advance, you will save so much time but also be the most productive.

  • Your books/schedule - By now you are probably all booked up past Christmas, make sure you keep this organized and let your clients know well in advance. Ideally you should let them know at the beginning of November that they will need to pre-book past Christmas and maybe into the New Year. Keep in mind people will be wanting more nail art so schedule accordingly. Try to leave a bit of space in your schedule for last minute emergencies, parties, and other holiday activities. If you make plans, write it down. Ask your friends and family in advance what they need you for because if you don’t ask and they still expect you there, it could be a recipe for disaster.

  • Finances - Keeping your financial books organized may seem like the last of your worries but when Year End is here and you don't know where all your receipts are, you will be wishing you took 2 minutes in between clients to record. You should also be taking into consideration your upcoming slow months, January and February. Due to these months being slow, you should put aside some money from your busy months. This is not the most fun you could have with all the money you are making around the holidays but it is definitely necessary to get you through the New Year.

With Black Friday being past, I hope you all stocked up on product! Especially your essentials. Guys - you are going to use it, buy it at a lower price!! And not to worry if you did miss Black Friday, make sure to stock up for the New Year for any and all boxing day sales. They do seem like an expensive purchase now but darling, it's going to save you hundreds in the long run!

Decorations! I know not all of you are Holiday Enthusiasts but your clients may be. Try to accommodate to what your clients would like and feel comfortable in. Plus it’s a great excuse to get into the Christmas spirit!

While you're at it - research some Nail Art & other festive things your clients will want to try. We all must love this one! Some of your clients may not know what to get but they just need to be steered in the right direction. Researching for ideas is not the only thing you should be doing. Look up techniques, this has potential to not only make your work look better and have your clients happier but it could also save you time!

Promotions - you can make a lot of money here. Think retail. Whatever your retail is like on a normal day, you can definitely do better during the holiday season. Take advantage! However, do not discount your top selling service. It is your top selling service for a reason. The most important thing you want to push sales for is GIFT CARDS! It's perfect! Think about it, people get a gift for someone and give you money, then when it slows down in January February, you will have people redeeming them. No more crazy lull! Pro tip: be sure to put that money away until they redeem it.

Don't forget that it is the season of giving and for that reason, make sure to say thank you to your loyal clients. I did some research and most - not all, but most technicians will give their loyal clients a little present for the holidays. It can be as little or big as you'd like. Not all do this but the ones that do usually say it is just proper etiquette. Even if you don't get them something make sure to make a point in saying Thank You.

And lastly STAY HYDRATED! STAY HEALTHY! With the weather changing and you touching people's hands, skin, etc. you are in a risk zone. Take a vitamin or two in the morning as you chug some water. I know drinking water is not ideal, having to pee during a service is a real pain, I get it. BUT it is better than the alternative. Also schedule time to eat & sleep, your body needs to be fueled if you plan on getting through the holidays.

I hope you all have an amazing holiday season, stay safe and have fun! :D
